Artist Hank Willis Thomas' and MASS Design Grouping's "The Embrace," a statuary-finish sculpture of ii pairs of behemothic artillery embracing each other, has been called to honor Coretta Scott Rex and Martin Luther King Jr. on the Boston Common. In his proposal, Thomas said he was too inspired by Coretta and Martin locked together leading civil rights marches. "In evoking the love shared between the Kings, their commitment to each other, and their ethics, 'The Embrace' is overwhelmingly uncomplicated and attainable: it is about what we share, not what sets us apart," the proposal states.
